Louise is our foundation brood mare. She was 7th in the world (NRHA Top Ten year end standings) in 1997 in the Limited Non Pro division, and was a semifinalist in the first ever USET Reining Challenge (in 1999). Shown here with her last foal, Hickory's Last Louise
Pete is an NRHA Futurity Finalist, having bested almost 600 horses to make the top 30 finals in 2004. He's won a saddle, buckles, trophies and NRHA money in very limited showing, and has been successful in the professional ("Open") and the amateur ("Non Pro") divisions. Here, with Joy at the 2006 NC State Fair
Maverick is Pete's half-brother. He was successfully shown in the Open Division as a 3- and 4-year old until a tendon injury sidelined him for a year. Now totally sound and healthy, he's enjoying his life at the Ranch, allowing Joy to keep her riding skills sharp! Shown here with trainer Nick Valentine.
UPDATE: Mav was getting bored with life at the Ranch, so he's gone back to "school" with Torre Edgerly down in Raeford and is helping her with her students!
Lena is our babysitter. She is bred for reining and cow work, but enjoyed a lot of success in the English Division, in Hunter Under Saddle and in Novice English Pleasure classes. Quiet, laid back and sane - she's the one we turn to when we have beginners come to ride.
UPDATE: Lena has left us to join a wonderful young man with Special Olympics aspirations. Have a great life, Lena!
Buddy is our official mascot. He'll never be ridden, having had the bad luck of a genetic defect called HERDA, but he lives life to the fullest - he plays with the dogs, and loves his baths and brushings! Shown here being taught to drive by one of our trainers, Jennifer Fiske.
