Came across this piece and it struck home. Lots of our friends have gone through the grief of saying goodbye to a loved canine companion -- some go out and honor their departed pup's memory by adopting another, and some grieve, thinking they will never get another. Please read this --- you will never replace the companion you lost, but you can share the love left behind with another homeless pet....
A Dog’s Last Will & Testament
Before humans die, they write their last will and testament, giving their home and all they have to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I’d ask…
To a poor and lonely stray I’d give my happy home; my bowl and cozy bed, soft pillow and all my toys; the lap, which I loved so much; the hand that stroked my fur; and the sweet voice that spoke my name.
I’d will to the sad, scared shelter dog the place I had in m human’s loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.
So, when I die, please do not say, “I will never have a pet again, for the loss and the pain is more than I can stand.”
Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has held no joy or hope, and give my place to him.
This is the only thing I can give…
The love I left behind.
My "heart and soul", Tucker , left us to join the angels on March 16, 2018. He was almost 16 years old, and I miss him dearly. RIP Tucker Frannicola - 6/4/03 - 3/16/18
The 3 Amigos are together again. Cody (chocolate) never got over losing Tucker 3 months ago. He left us this morning (6-11-18) to be with Tucker and Jake at the Bridge. I hope their reunion was glorious.
