RIP Sasha.
We lost our brave boy yesterday (4/15/2020). His tired body couldn't fight anymore. R.I.P., Sasha. You will be missed.
There are thousands like him out there that need help! We have several other seniors and medical needs pups here in our rescue. If you'd like to help us help them, please consider a small donation towards their care. There is a donation link below, or you can use PayPal to nrhalnp@aol.com. No amount is too small. Thank you for caring! To see Sasha's story, click here.

WHY DO WE HAVE TO PAY AN ADOPTION FEE?
This is a question rescues hear more and more from people wanting to adopt a dog. There is a general misconception out there that rescues get the dogs for "free" and charge adoption fees. WRONG!! By the time you adopt a dog from a reputable rescue, he/she has been fully vetted (all shots, deworming, HW test, spay/neuter), and has been temperament tested to be sure the dog will be a perfect fit for your family. The adoption fees charged by rescues do not even begin to cover the costs incurred in getting a shelter dog to the point of being adoptable. Still not sure? Check with your veterinarian to see what the costs of vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery and heartworm testing will be. Then add it up, add in the price of the dog, and you'll see that paying an adoption fee of $225 - $275 is well worth the price!
------------------------------------------------
We have received many many phone calls lately asking us to take owner surrendered pets. PLEASE UNDERSTAND we cannot take personal surrenders. Our dogs come to us from County shelters, where they are on euthanasia lists. By taking a personal surrender, we are guaranteeing the death of a shelter dog. We will be happy to help you post your dog on our sites in an effort to find him/her a new home, but cannot physically take them here at the Ranch.

ADOPT A SHELTER PET!!!
While all of our residents come from local shelters, they are safe here at the Ranch and with our fosters. There are thousands of abandoned animals sitting in cages and kennels in shelters waiting for someone to come and save them and give them love. PLEASE, if you are considering adding a furry member to your family, check your shelters first!!! Their lives depend on it.

Don't Shop --- Adopt!! You'll be saving two lives - the pup you adopt, and the shelter dog who will be able to take its place at the Ranch.
---------------------------------------------------------------
ADOPTING AND LOVING A SENIOR DOG IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING THINGS ANYONE CAN DO - TAKING A DOG PAST THE PRIME OF LIFE AND INSURING THAT ITS REMAINING DAYS ARE FILLED WITH COMFORT AND LOVE IS PRICELESS.

APPROVED RESCUE!!
RUF CREEK RANCH has been named by the Humane Society of the US as an Emergency Placement Partner!
We are among the first rescues contacted when a disaster strikes!!
----------------------
We operate a "placement sanctuary", where animals taken into our Rescue receive the care, attention and behavioral modifications, if any, that are needed to make them more appealing and, therefore, more adoptable. Our Ranch Residents remain with us until they have found their permanent homes, or until they have lived out their natural lives. We are a "no-kill" facility, and are proud to be associated with Johnston County Animal Services.
Our primary goal is to rescue dogs from local animal control shelters and to get them ready to be adopted into permanent loving homes. All of our dogs come from shelters. Our space is limited, so unfortunately, we cannot accept private surrenders.
We also promote spay/neuter of your companion animals to eliminate unwanted litters and reduce the burden on shelters and on rescues. We can refer you to several area low-cost spay/neuter facilities.
