Pet overpopulation is the biggest cause of overcrowded shelters and rescues. Thousands of animals are euthanized daily because there is no room to house them. All of this could be avoided if owners would spay and neuter their companion animals.
A spayed/neutered dog is a happier dog. They will live longer and the risk of certain types of cancers are reduced. They will be less likely to roam, or to show aggression
Here at the Ranch, we require that all dogs adopted through us be spayed or neutered. We will assist you in finding a facility to perform the surgery, and can provide you with links to area clinics.
When you adopt an intact male or unspayed female, we require a $50.00 deposit towards spay/neuter surgery, which is refunded to you when you show us proof that the animal has been fixed. Our adoption fees are:
$175.00 - spayed/neutered dog
$150.00 + refundable deposit - intact dog
Help us battle the problem of pet overpopulation. If everyone spayed or neutered their pets, our shelters would not be full and healthy animals would not have to be euthanized. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
IMPORTANT
All dogs and puppies leaving the Ranch are required to be spayed or neutered. We make every effort to have them spayed or neutered before they leave but circumstances like age or length of time out of the shelter (we have a 2-week quarantine period) sometimes gets in the way and we ask the adopter to assume the responsibility of the surgery. We will assist you in scheduling an appointment at one of our low-cost spay/neuter partners.
Our adoption agreement contains a paragraph which requires that the dog be spayed/neutered. This is a contract which is signed by the adopter, and can be enforced.
